Beat My Day - Preview: Porcelain Black – Naughty Naughty (R3hab Remix)

While we eagerly await his and Swanky Tunes’ leviathan remix for CallingR3hab adds another top-notch making to his host of widely acknowledged remixes, including remix duties for the likes of David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Tiësto and Katy Perry to name a few. Now taking on American pop rock songstress Porcelain Black’s latest single, the winds seem to keep turning in favour of this Breda-raised talent as he continues to prove himself a natural when it comes to turning radio-friendly hit singles into vigorous club-bangers. Whereas the original’s somewhat catchy instrumentals and the mysterious yet captivating voice of Alaina Marie Beaton have proven to be a chart-worthy combination fuelling the ride of Naughty Naughty notably up the charts, R3hab’s ‘Pacha NYC 6 AM’ remix unfolds a considerably lesser dose of weirdness in its characteristically warped lead, delightful interlude and heavy-stepping drop.

Porcelain Black Combines Marilyn Manson With Britney Spears. – Interview

CLICK HERE TO READ AT SOURCE.

A new song currently blowing up the club scene is “Naughty Naughty” by the energetic and exciting Porcelain Black. The pop/dance singer used her love for Nine Inch Nails to create a combination that would make both Marilyn Manson and Britney Spears fans rock out in the same venue. I recently sat down with Porcelain Black to talk about her name, music and what it was like working with Lil Wayne.

Q – Thank you for talking to me.

A - Lovely talking to ya too!!!!

Q – Real quick, where did the name Porcelain Black come from?

A - I used to have this cute but kinda creepy porcelain doll dressed in black that used to sit on top of my TV in my room when I was a kid. She looked just like me. So my family nicknamed me porcelain black.

Q – Your music combines pop/dance grooves with darker, more industrial themes. Is that a fair assessment? How would you describe your music?

A - YES! I'm OBSESSED with Nine Inch Nails and TRENT REZNOR! I would die happy if I got to work with him on my record. He's my biggest inspiration. I also love great pop songs so I wanted to mix both. (Marilyn) Mansion + Britney (Spears) love child. Ha ha. I'm a slave for the beautiful people.

Q – How do you differ from other pop/dance acts out there such as Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj?

A - I bring a rock and roll edge plus I can metal scream like a maniac!!! I call it horror pop!!! I don't take myself too seriously either and I'm a brutally honest, straight forward chick from Detroit. What you see is what you get.

Q – Your debut album is set for 2012 but your new single, “Naughty Naughty,” is blowing up the clubs right now. Will the rest of the album follow the same style as the new single? What can fans expect from this debut album?

A - The new record is dope so far - still working on it. I have a dope ballad I wrote with Josh and Billy Steinberg called "How Do You Love Someone." Billy's a genius. He wrote Madonna's “Like a Virgin.” I really respect him. Also, lots of fast heavy bass beat pumping industrial pop dance songs like "Naughty Naughty." The best songs are DEFF yet to come. I live for “Mannequin Factory.”

Q – You’ve worked with Courtney Love and Lil Wayne, just to name a couple artists you’ve collaborated with. What were these experiences like? What did you take away from these collaborations?

A - I've never worked w CL. But she did ask me to sing backup on her record but I couldn't do it because I was in London. :( Working with Lil Wayne was AMAZING. He's one of my FAV rap stars and super cool, caring, loving, humble and down to earth. I really love him for that! He sets a great example. So many artists have their heads up their own ass and he was a breath of fresh air because he is so chill.

Q – One of your upcoming gigs is at The Dinah 2012. How did you get involved with this project?

A - They asked me. Super honored. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!

Q – Thank you again for taking the time. Is there anything you wanted to add?

A - My single "Naughty Naughty" is available on iTunes! Also check me out in the new "Rock Of Ages" movie coming out this year starring Tom Cruise and Russell Brand. I'm so raw in this game I'm eatin sushi rightttttt nowwwww...

Following closely on the heels of a stellar remix of "Naughty Naughty" with the aptly titled "R3hab’s Pacha 6AM Remix," MTV News is proud to bring you R3hab’s remix of Porcelain Black’s "This is What Rock N Roll Looks Like," a pretty awesome re-work of the RedOne-produced original featuring Lil Wayne (if you remember Weezy brought out PB to open on his "I Am Music II Tour" last year).

For dance music producer R3hab, born Faadil El Ghoul, who in the last year has remixedKaty Perry, will.i.am and Rihanna, among others, working with PB on "TIWRNRLL," remains a pretty awesome venture.

"The original vibe is crazy, and I am a big fan of Lil Wayne," R3hab told MTV News. "This track makes you wanna rage like the lyrics say! I see [the remix] as a rollercoaster ride. Breaks slow it down. Then there is a climb, and the big drop!"

"I hadn't heard of him before the remixes, but I think he's DOPE!" Porcelain Black told MTV News. "I wish his remixes were the official singles because they really pop off next level. I love all the spooky horror pop synths he throws in the mixes, and the breakdowns make me wanna throw back shots of whiskey and hair whip. If I could have sex with a song I'd def be tappin’ dat remix!"

R3hab’s remix of Porcelain Black’s "This is What Rock N Roll Looks Like," will be available for download for free on R3hab’s soundcloud Tuesday, January 24.

Starpulse Q&A: Porcelain Black Is One Naughty Naughty Rad Chick

CLICK HERE TO READ AT SOURCE.

Starpulse: Tell me about your single, Naughty Naughty.

Porcelain BlackIt’s a fun dance song about being a bad girl.

Starpulse: Whose idea was it for the video? Where was it filmed?

Porcelain Black: That’s not the music video, the music video hasn’t been shot yet so that was just a viral video.

Starpulse: So there will be an actual video when the album comes out?

Porcelain Black: We’ll probably shoot the video for it in a couple of weeks.

Starpulse: When is the album coming out?

Porcelain Black:  I’m not sure, I wrote a bunch but I decided I wanted to go back into the studio and work on some more stuff so I am going to be doing that. And once I am done with that, the record should be out.

Starpulse: You were on the “I Am Music II Tour”- how was that?

Porcelain Black: We did the I Am Music Tour and then we did the I Am Still Music Tour and then I’ve just been playing around at club shows and events and stuff that that, so that’s really cool. In March I am going to Shanghai to play a huge show and that’s going to be really cool- it’s like a fashion show with music and all sorts of stuff.

Starpulse: Who are your musical inspirations?

Porcelain Black: Trent Reznor- I love all Nine Inch Nails stuff, I love Britney Spears, I love Marilyn Manson.

Starpulse: Coincidentally on your website, you were also described as an offspring of Marilyn Manson and Britney Spears- how do you feel about that, that’s a pretty rad combo!

Porcelain Black: Well, I came up with that (laughing). Everyone asked me how I would describe my music and I said if Marilyn and Britney got together and had a crazy kid, it would be me. And they were like, oh, okay, I get it!

Starpulse: You have a very unique look- do you pick out everything you wear on stage or do you have a stylist?

Porcelain Black: That’s my style every day.

pb2

Starpulse: Do you have any fashion tips for our readers?

Porcelain Black: Go shopping at thrift stores because it’s cheap and you’re not going to see some other girl at the club wearing the same thing, which is the most annoying thing ever. I just love vintage pieces- vintage furs and seven inch heels- I always wear heels.

Starpulse: Tell me about the tattoo of the girl on your arm- is that you?

Porcelain Black: It’s by a French Graffiti artist- she’s an amazing artist who has murals everywhere, and that’s one that she did for me. I got that tattoo about five years ago but I have wanted it for a really long time, so when I got it I was pretty stoked.

Starpulse: What is the Train Wreck Street Team?

Porcelain Black: It’s a way of life and what I call myself and my fans. It’s not necessarily being a train wreck and being a piece of sh*t, you know? It’s more about the way you live your life, being carefree and not give a f*@k about what other people think of you. Just doing what you got to do that makes yourself happy and having fun.

Starpulse: How did you come up with the name “Porcelain Black?”

Porcelain Black: I used to have all these creepy porcelain dolls that my aunt would buy me when I was little and there was this one that looked just like me, so they started calling me ‘Porcelain’ as a nickname and that stuck. And my favorite color is black and I like black guys, so…

Starpulse: I read that you described yourself as a “mix of dark and light”- can you explain that in more detail?

Porcelain Black: I mean, I always say in order to be a badass, you don’t have to be a bad person. You can still be a badass and be a good person at the same time. I guess the mix of light and dark is how my music is too- there are some light poppy elements and then there’s some dark screaming elements too. I think it’s good to mix stuff up.

pb3

Starpulse: If you weren’t an artist, what would you want to do?

Porcelain Black: If I wasn’t an artist, I’d probably just write songs for other artists. Or I would do something in fashion.

Starpulse: Did you grow up with musical parents or have you just always wanted to be in the industry?

Porcelain Black: My dad owned a hair salon, so I grew up like backstage at fashion shows and all kinds of stuff. He was super rock and roll and loved ACDC- he was always dressing up. He would dress up like Kurt Cobain and put on the blonde wig at his hair salon and play Nirvana songs while his client’s hair was getting done. The whole environment where I grew up swayed me to be who I am today. Fashion, supermodels, music, craziness.

Starpulse: You obviously share your music with your fans through Twitter and Facebook- how has social media helped your career?

Porcelain Black: I think it’s amazing- my other project I have called Porcelain and the Tramp- I had like 10 million views on My Space in one year and it was like the #1 viewed and a lot of people became familiar with me so I am all about social media and Twitter and Facebook and all that. That’s how a lot of artists make it now with the viral videos- it is definitely an important part.

Starpulse: What do you do in your downtime?

Porcelain Black: I go to the Korean spa, like every day. I shop and hang out with friends. I just moved into a new place right now so I have been decorating.

Starpulse: What’s up next for you?

Porcelain Black: I have a shoe, handbag and accessory line that is coming out in the spring called ‘Porcelain Black’ that I designed all the stuff for- super dope platform heels and all kinds of other cool stuff. I’m in Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise which is coming out- I play a rock star in that. Got a couple other things like TV shows but I’m not really allowed to talk about that.

Make Room, Lady Gaga And Nicki Minaj -- Meet Fashion And Music's New Love Child: Porcelain Black

CLICK HERE TO READ AT SOURCE.

Porcelain Black at first glance, with her demi-goth/rocker-chic inspired style and two-toned black and white tresses, appears to be the spitting image of a would-be love child of Marilyn Manson and the Honorable Daphne Guinness. But upon further inspection one is pleasantly surprised to realize that Porcelain Black is actually her own special creation. Ms. Black is actually one of those rare artists with a great deal of raw and unfettered talent coupled with a natural born sense of killer style.

Inked Magazine – Porcelain Black

CLICK HERE TO READ AT SOURCE.

A spontaneous badass with a seductive smile, Alaina Beaton is an industrial pop songwriter who goes by the name Porcelain Black. Citing her biggest musical influences as Marilyn Manson and Britney Spears, Black makes music that’s both sneeringly edgy and frivolously infectious. Her hair—half ebony, half ivory—symbolizes both the volatile and fun-loving sides of her personality. But many of the tattoos, which cover her hands and arms, are more like emotional scars from years spent on the streets of Detroit.

“A lot of people in Detroit are miserable,” she explains. “When you live there and you’re a cute girl with your own thing going on, all these people want to do is fuck with you. They’d pick fights with me all the time and I was like, ‘What you don’t understand is I’m 10 times crazier than I look and I will fuck your ass up.’”

One of Black’s most meaningful tattoos, the logo for her father’s hair salon, Beaton Colors, covers the back of herleft hand. He was the greatest early inspiration of her youth, and his death from cancer when Black was just 16 set her into a tailspin of rage. “This was the man who taught me to value individuality, and suddenly he was just gone,” she says. “That fueled my teen angst to the max.”
